St. David’s Day

St. David’s Day

Here at the Vicarage we are not too far away from the Welsh Border and so we like to celebrate a special day like St. Davids Day. During our craft classes we were making daffodils from tissue paper and pipe cleaners. It was a bit fiddly although once we got the technique of the twists and crumple of the paper we were well away. Along with our fresh daffodils, which were on show around the home and the row after row of golden flowers on view through our many windows, it really felt like spring was really on the way.

For our cookery and baking class we ventured into making Bara Brith a typical Welsh traditional cake and leek and potato soup in readiness for our special lunch.  We finally rounded it off with Welsh cakes in the afternoon with lots of refreshing tea. We were quite full by the end of the day after tasting the Welsh delights prepared for us.
